WHO WE ARE
NEWS
April 7th 2024
We were very sorry to hear that Martin Swainston has decided to hang up his tenor horn and focus on the many other things that life consists of, not the least of which is being around to enjoy his family more.
Martin has been not only one of our top players, he's also dedicated himself to a full and impressive commitment to all things Cockerton, and for a couple of years has been an excellent chair of the committee.
Not only will Martin be stepping aside, but so will Clare - Mrs Swainston - who has been one of our top team of supporters and cheerleaders. Clare's presence at concerts has always been such an encouragement, and at contests we might not have been able to see her out amongst the audience but we'd know she was there, and the sounds of her cheers would boost our fuel supplies and give us vital voom.
We hope they both enjoy their time away from band, but we also hope we'll still see them from time to time.
DR MARTIN CONTEST 2024
As many of you will know, CPSB is one of the trustees of the Dr Martin Contest, and we facilitate the competition each year.
This year's event will once again be a brass band spectacular taking place right here in the north east, and it'll happen in Yarm on Sunday 8th September. It's a terrific competition for championship section bands, and it's open for entries right now! Just head across to their website for details - doctormartincontest.com.
