Well, the brass band calendar has ticked off the year's most significant date, and the regional contest is over for another 12 months!

We were delighted to finish in a very decent third place, and collect this trophy from the judges, after a tough competition with a piece of music that made big demands.

The assessments were fair and pointed to a lot of great playing, and we finished the competition not only in third place in the contest but also in second position in the overall rankings for the First Section for the year ahead. A great result!

As always, we're deeply grateful for the focus and attention to detail that our MD, Andy Hunter, brought to the rehearsal process, as well as his never-ending supply of energy that sustained us through long hours at the stave- front, and many, many sectionals.

We've a couple of other contests we hope to get in over the course of the next few months, and we're keeping our eyes on whatever prizes we decide to aim for.

But now that the big annual rite of brass band passage is over for the year, it's time to look at other things. We've a few very nice bandstand jobs ahead, and some interesting concerts just awaiting announcements -  the most important being our President's Concert which had to be postponed from it's original date but which we hope will be ready to confirm soon.

Your support for our assault on "High Peak" was greatly appreciated. The good wishes, the letters, the notes, and the cheering (both live and virtual) make a big difference, and we do love you for it.
