UPDATE 2nd APRIL  2024

The weather might not be summer-like yet (or even particularly spring-like) but

we're not holding back on summer events, and in particular with our spectacular President's Concert on June 8th.

We were delighted to have our President, Baroness Chapman as guest of honour, along with Carol Charlton and some of her team from St Teresa's Hospice for whom all the proceeds were being raised.

We also had the terrific Dr Brett Baker as guest trombone soloist, who gave us a tour de force performance of thrilling dexterity and amazing sound. Our trombone section felt really privileged to be sitting along side him.

After a great night, we were already hatching plans for some ambitious projects up ahead - more of those a little later.

We've some great events up ahead across the summer (whatever that's going to look like), with Heighington Fete on Saturday 15th, an appearance in Darlington Town Centre on July 20th, then at Hopetown on the 21st. More dates are still coming in, and we'll keep you up to date.

Futher ahead, as the year moves on, we've got several contests in the pipeline and we're looking forward to those, the first of which is in Chorley for the Red Admiral Contest.

And don't forget the Dr Martin's Contest on September 8th, at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium in Yarm. As usual, Cockerton will be playing host to visiting Championship Section bands for what is regarded as one of the most rewarding contests in the brass banding calendar.
